Founder · Licensed, Bonded & Insured Contractor
Bruce is a licensed, bonded and insured contractor with 40+ years of building experience. He handles the building side of the work, and he takes on the accessibility jobs a lot of contractors turn down — the tricky doorway, the sloped yard, the bathroom that's too narrow to turn around in. He'll tell you what can be done, what it takes, and how long he'll be in your house.
Director · OTR/L · Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist
Heather has practiced occupational therapy for more than 35 years across clinical, rehabilitation, facility and home-health settings. She has worked with people navigating changes after surgery, illness, falls, stroke, injury and the ordinary changes that come with aging, which gives her a practical sense of how strength, balance and daily routines interact with the house itself. As a Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), she leads our home assessments and helps develop recommendations around the person's needs, routines and goals.
Subject Matter Expert · Accessibility & Independent Living
Bruce brings nearly three decades of professional accessibility experience and a lifetime of firsthand understanding. After becoming a quadriplegic at 17, he went on to found and operate Barrier Free Systems in Schenectady, New York, for 29 years, helping individuals and families with lifts and thoughtful home modifications. Today, he helps our team analyze complex accessibility challenges and find solutions that are simpler, smarter and more practical. Bruce brings something that can't be learned from an installation manual: the combined perspective of an accessibility professional, lifelong wheelchair user and experienced problem solver.
Accessibility Team
Originally from Lexington, South Carolina, Ethan studied Construction Management at Greenville Technical College before joining Healthy Home Improvements. His construction education and hands-on experience are matched by patience, respect and a genuine willingness to help. In work that often serves older adults, people with disabilities and families adapting to changing needs, Ethan understands that character matters just as much as technical ability.
Accessibility Team
Originally from Michigan, Mac graduated from North Greenville University before making the Upstate home. He brings broad mechanical and building aptitude, a strong work ethic and an easygoing nature to the team. Mac is especially good at thinking through unusual situations, developing practical answers and then carrying those solutions into the field.
